Marco
Watson McMillian
currently serves as Vice President for Leadership At Its Best,
LLC, a Columbus, Ohio based company that provides Leadership and
Development Training, Diversity Strategy Planning to Corporations
and Businesses, Leadership and Development Training for College
and University students, students in Public School Districts and
Leadership and
Development Training and strategic planning for Non-Profit organizations.
He is also the Assistant to the Vice President for Institutional
Advancement at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi
In his
capacity as Vice President for Leadership At Its Best, LLC, McMillian
is responsible for effectively designing, implementing, evaluating,
and revising programs, instruction, syllabi, curricula, and objectives
to ensure instructional and programmatic responsiveness. He is
also responsible for providing leadership to the division’s
consultants and clients. As the Assistant to the
Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Jackson State
University, McMillian is responsible for maintaining the division’s
tracking register, preparing and drafting grant proposals, supervising
records' maintenance and tracking of allocations for staff positions;
authorizing the processing of budget and position actions; supervising
and monitoring expenditures, charge-back activity, travel, and
work orders; serving as liaison on personnel actions between the
Division of Institutional Advancement and the Office of Human
Resources; reviewing, interpreting and recommending actions with
regard to University policies and procedures; and serving as the
primary support person for the Vice President for Institutional
Advancement.
Prior
to Leadership At Its Best and Jackson State University, McMillian
served as a program coordinator and classroom instructor for Clarksdale
Public School District and Noxubee School District, respectively.
As a program coordinator, he supervised 20 classroom teachers
and revised the district’s class size reduction program.
McMillian also served as office manager for Coahoma Opportunities,
Incorporated, a not-for-profit community action agency.
The Clarksdale,
Mississippi native is a graduate of the W.E.B. DuBois Honors College
at Jackson State University and is continuing graduate studies
at Mississippi State University in Public Policy and Administration.
McMillian is also a graduate of Youth Leadership Clarksdale, National
Young Leaders Conference of Washington, D.C., and National Association
of Student Affairs Professionals’ Leadership Program in
Bowie, Maryland.
The junior
executive is a member of the Rotary Club of Jackson, Mississippi;
100 Black Men of Columbus, Mississippi; Clarksdale Sunset Lions
Club; National Forum for Black Public Administrators; American
Society of Public Administrators; U.S. Jaycees; and New Jerusalem
Missionary Baptist Church.
McMillian
is a board member for the NAACP- Coahoma County Branch, Arms of
Love National Project, Community Bridge Builders, Incorporated,
and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated- State of Mississippi.
He is also a former Student Government Association president for
Jackson State University and a former National Second Vice President
for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
