INTRODUCTION
The retention
of African-Americans, other minorities and women in organizations
continues to be a major challenge and issue that must be addressed
if organizations are to truly have successful long term Diversity
Programs. Workforce 2020 published by the Hudson Institute clearly
addresses the change in the workforce and what progressive organizations
should be doing in order to be successful in the future. The representation
or lack of representation of minorities and women in the workforce
of an organization speaks to the real commitment to Diversity.
When you
ask minorities and women why they left an organization you will
hear such things as: no career growth did not see other minorities/women
in Senior Management positions, lack of cross training, no real
visible commitment to me or diversity, etc.
